For intercontinental arrivals, either Rome airport (2 hours by train) or Bologna airport (less than 1 hour by train) are convenient. Smaller Florence airport is about 20 miles from the property.  Pisa is also closeby for continental arrivals.

TRAINS--Trenitalia.it and Italo.it are the two main rail services that connect the main train stations in Rome (2 hours), Bologna (0.5 hours) and Milan (2.5 hours). On Trenitalia, the fast train is the Freccia Rossa. All Italo trains are fast.

CAR RENTALS--Available at all airports.  At the Florence train station, Hertz is at the station and Avis/Budget a short walk on Borgo Ognissanti.  

DRIVING/GPS

1. Set the GPS to Castello di Vicchiomaggio or Bolle. On Highway 222, turn at the Castello di Vicchiomaggio wineshop onto the road leading to the castle (Localita Vicchio). At the second curve (about 200 meters), turn left onto an unpaved road through a vineyard and proceed about 50 meters. At the pink house, turn left and proceed down a short slope to the property gate.
2. You will receive a toll card when you enter the expressway. When you leave the expressway, you can pay with credit card or cash in the specified lanes.
3.  There are two parallel roads (La Chiantigiana 222), the higher and more scenic road and La Chiantigiana di Ferrone, Sp3,  which follows the valley.   If you prefer the more beautiful drive, follow the signs to Impruneta and then twoards Greve.

From Bologna:

By train: take the shuttle train or a taxi (E22) from the airport to the main train station. Take the express train (Frecca Rossa) fromBologna to Florence (30"). From the train station, you can travel by taxi (about USD100) or rent a car.   .

By car: all major car rental services areconveniently located at the Bologna Airport;Take the A1 expressway from Bologna to Firenze and exit atImpruneta; take SR2 orfollow the GPS to Bolle or Castello di Vicchiomaggio (see above DRIVING/GPS))

From Rome:

By train:take the shuttle train (Leonardo da Vinci) from the airport to the main train station; take the express train (Freccia Rossa) from Rome to Florence; take a taxi (about 100 Euro) or rent a car (Avis/Budget) at Borgognissanti.

By car: all major car rental services are conveniently located at the Rome Airport (Fiumicino); Take the A1 expressway from Bologna to Firenze and exit at Impruneta; take SR2 or follow the GPS to Bolle or Castello di Vicchiomaggio (see above DRIVING/GPS))
