Most airlines have a direct flight to Rome from which Florence is a 1.5 hour fast train.  You can rent a car from Avis Ognissanti nearby the train station from which it is a 35 minute easy drive to the house.   Bologna with its convenient airport is a 30 minute train to Florence.   Florence has a small airport but its car rental services get poor reviews.  Federica can arrange private car transfer.

Driving tips:

Set the GPS to Localita Vicchio, 16, Greve in Chianti or Il Castello di Vicchiomaggio.  You turn on a private road leading to the castle.   Take the first left at Borgo di Vicchiomaggio onto a gravel road through the vineyards, turn left at the pink house and stay left to the gate.
